President's Message

Dear Family,

Every year, PTAs throughout California give Founders Day awards “in special recognition of outstanding service to children and youth”.  Last week, the LCHS PTSA gave Founders Day Awards to five individuals who have gone above and beyond to support our students.  We are truly grateful for their dedication and service to our school community.

Congratulations to:

Cindy Hofman - Community Volunteer

Genna Kern - Parent Volunteer

Mona Massabki -  Parent Volunteer

Brian Mendoza - Community Volunteer

Sandra Miller - LCUSD Staff Member and Community Volunteer

Please join us to celebrate the LCUSD Founders Day Award Winners at a ceremony on March 16, 2023 at 6:30 pm in the LCHS Auditorium.

I hope you all have a great week!  Please feel free to reach out with any questions to ptapresident@lchsptsa.org.

Warmest Regards,

Two EASY Ways to Help Our Schools!

The Amazon Smile Program will be discontinued at the end of the month. Do you have items you are waiting to order? If so, then we would encourage you to do so by the end of the month! Each Amazon account registered with Smile donated a portion back to our schools - SUPER easy way to support our schools while doing your regular shopping.

Speaking of regular shopping, is your Ralphs card registered? Last quarter, we received $2739.43 from Kroger! And did you know that you can ask extended families to register? Just choose "La Canada High School PTSA 7-12" as your community donor. Thank you for your continued support!

California Scholarship Federation

The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) is a statewide organization that recognizes academic excellence upon graduation at the high school level. All Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior and Senior students with good grades and citizenship are encouraged to apply each semester. To attain full membership and a CSF Gold Seal, a student needs to successfully submit an application at least 4 semesters of high school. One semester must come from senior year.  In the fall, freshmen may not apply because they need high school grades to qualify. Freshmen begin applying in January.

It’s CSF application time. Beginning January 13th, turn in the application with last semester’s report card! The application is currently available on-line only. They are available at www.lchsspartans.net, through the student portal; click on the California Scholarship Federation tab. The applications, along with an uploaded copy of your first semester report card, are due no later than Friday, February 24th, by 11:59 P.M..

Please note** You must have a report that shows YOUR CITIZENSHIP, not just grades. If you have any U’s, you are ineligible.

Seniors do not need to pay dues this year; no student needs to complete service hours for high school CSF.

We have to apply for a drivers license, file taxes and pay bills by a certain date; CSF applications are due no later than February 24th.
