SUBJECT: LCHS 9-12 PTSA - News and Information You Need!

President's Message

Dear Family,

It’s the last week of April, and not only is it actually starting to feel like Spring, but it’s also the week of our 36th Annual Spring Home Tour!  This Friday, April 28th, the La Canada community is invited to enjoy the day wandering through four beautiful homes, selected for their unique and inspirational design and character.  There will also be an All-Day Marketplace featuring unique vendors, delicious baked goods, and even the Handel’s Ice Cream Truck.  The day will conclude with an After Party in the backyard of another beautiful La Canada home with small bites, cocktails, and live music by talented LCHS jazz musicians.  You won’t want to miss this special day, enjoying the time with friends and community members while raising funds that support the LCHS 7/8 and 9-12 schools.  For more information and tickets go to www.lacanadahometour.com.

Beginning next Monday, May 1st, is Teacher Appreciation Week.  Throughout the week our wonderful teachers and staff members will be treated to delicious meals and treats by the PTSA and other parent groups.  We are fortunate to have such dedicated, hardworking and supportive teachers and staff members and we hope that feel truly appreciated by the students and parents of our school.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions and enjoy the week!

Warm Regards,

Christine Chant, LCHS PTSA Presidentptapresident@lchsptsa.org

Miradas - Crossing Glances Art Exhibition

Internationally-Renown Spanish Painter Javier Montesol to Paint Mural at La Cañada High School and Premier “Miradas – Crossing Glances” Exhibit at Descanso Gardens.

Montesol is best known for his iconic paintings of Spanish dancers and depictions of Spanish culture. His work is included in numerous international collections, including Madrid’s Prado Museum, Museo Reina Sofia, and in private collections around the world. In Fall 2022, La Cañada Flintridge Sister Cities hosted Montesol and introduced him to the people and culture of Southern California. He returns to Southern California in April and May 2023 to complete two important projects.

Collaborating with 14 La Cañada High School art students, on Thursday, April 27, 2023, Montesol will paint a live large mural in the courtyard of La Cañada High School. This “performance art” will be similar to an event commissioned by the National Museum of Catalonia in Barcelona in 2019.
