SUBJECT: LCHS 9-12 PTSA: All the News You Need!

President's Message

April has been a very busy month on the LCHS campus and there is more to come!  I want to extend a heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Eich and the cast and crew of the All School Musical, Beauty and the Beast, for an amazing show this past weekend!  The dedication and hard work of the student actors and singers, the LCHS Orchestra, the student tech crew, and the many staff members involved came together for a truly enjoyable and successful show.

This Friday, April 26th is the 37th Annual Spring Home Tour.  The La Canada community is invited to enjoy the day wandering through four beautiful homes, selected for their unique and inspirational design and character.  There will also be an All-Day Marketplace at the Lanterman House, featuring unique vendors, delicious baked goods, and the Handel’s Ice Cream truck, which will be there from 2:00-4:00.  The day will conclude with an After Party in the backyard of another beautiful La Canada home with small bites, cocktails, and live music by talented LCHS jazz musicians.  You won’t want to miss this special day, enjoying the time with friends and community members while raising funds that support the LCHS 7/8 and 9-12 schools.  For more information and tickets go to www.lacanadahometour.com.  I hope to see you there!

Please read below for more important information.  Feel free to reach out with any questions to ptapresident@lchsptsa.org.

Have a great week!

With warm regards,

 Christine Chant, LCHS PTSA President

LCFEF Summer School Registration
Narcan Training - Saturday, April 27

Each week 22 teenagers, equivalent to one high school classroom, die in the U.S. from drug overdose. With most overdoses related to opioids, knowing what to do in the event of an opioid overdose can be lifesaving, especially for teens.

In response, local resident and pediatric surgeon Dr. Lorraine Kelley-Quon and her team from Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) and the University of Southern California (USC) are organizing a “Narcan Training/Distribution and Prescription Opioid Take Back Event” this April 27th at La Cañada High School from 10am to 2pm. This event will provide participants with information about Narcan (Naloxone), an over-the-counter reversal agent for opioid overdose, and training on how to dispense this medication. The first 50 participants will get a free dose of Narcan.

Additionally, please bring any leftover prescription opioid medications you may have in your home for safe disposal, no questions asked! This event is open to the public and is supported by grants from the USC Institute for Addiction Science and the USC Verdugo Hills Hospital.
