I hope you all enjoyed Labor Day weekend with your families! September is starting off with a busy week full of events for students and families.

Back to School Night – Thursday, 9/7 - 6:30-8:00 pm.
- The evening will begin with a presentation from Mr. Cartnal and other speakers at 6:00 pm in the auditorium. Parents are then invited to each of their students’ classrooms for a presentation from their teachers. This event is for parents only. The schedule is as follows:
  5 - 6:00 pm - College and Career Open House
  6 - 6:40 pm - All School Talk - Mr. Cartnal, LCFEF, PTSA, Spartan Boosters
  6:50 – 8:00 pm - Classrooms Open - Parents follow their student's schedule

Tailgate – Friday, 9/8 at 5:00 pm – then stay for the home Football game at 7:00 pm

Freshman Family Coffee –Friday, 9/8 at 9:00 am in the Cafeteria

I hope to see you on campus this week! Also, mark your calendars for our next PTSA meeting on Thursday, September 21^st at 8:45 am in the Staff Lounge. If you cannot attend in person, you can join us on Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent out before the meeting.

Amazon Wish Lists for Teachers!

For the 2023-2024 school year, we’re continuing the Amazon Wish List for Teachers Program. Each of the teachers, counselors, IRC staff, Wellness Center staff, and College and Career Center counselors have been invited to create a wish list of items that they need for their classrooms to make their day-to-day job easier. These are things that they would have to purchase on their own, so this is a great way to support them by purchasing items for them. The Wish List links will be posted on their Google Classrooms and the LCHS PTSA website, on the Teacher Appreciation page.

When you buy items from their list, they will be shipped to the school and the teacher will be notified. If, for any reason, you choose to buy it separately, please let the teacher know so they can remove it from their list.

The LCHS Girls Flag Football Club!

LCHS is starting a Girls Flag Football Club! Come out and try this new CIF approved fall sport that could turn varsity as early as next year! No experience necessary, come out and give it a try! Freshman Family Coffee - Sept. 8th at 9am

Freshman parents are invited to join us on September 8th at 9am for a cup of coffee in the Cafeteria for an informal presentation by Mr. Cartnal. You’ll hear helpful information about what to expect as your student begins their high school journey and have the chance to ask any questions that you have.

Please sign in at the front office before coming to the meeting in the Cafeteria.

Annual Tailgate Party is Sept. 8th!

Every year, LCHS PTSA, LCHS 7/8 PTA and Boosters organize a fun Tailgate Party at the start of football season. Families gather outside the football field as we play games, listen to a great DJ and enjoy delicious freshly prepared burgers from The Habit. A spirit tunnel is created by those present and our teams run through it and onto the field to kick off the Spartan athletics season. Tailgate is a membership event for both organizations and we encourage everyone to attend and support our important organizations.

The 2023 Tailgate will be Friday, September 8th at 5:00 pm, prior to the LCHS vs. Santa Paula High School. Parent volunteers are needed to make this fun event a success. Go to the Spartan Order Form to sign up to volunteer.

Revolution Prep is offering practice SAT and ACT tests for our students. All proceeds will go to LCHS PTSA! See details below:

Don't Forget About Your Spartan Order Form!

With a new year comes the Spartan Order Form, where you can donate, volunteer and purchase your PTSA membership, Directory, Home Tour Sponsorship, Tailgate tickets and Spirit Wear.

The funding sources that comprise the annual PTSA budget are from donations you choose to make on this form. LCHS PTSA relies on our school families to donate, either to our PTSA directed funds or as Sponsors of the annual La Canada Home Tour. YOUR student and YOUR school are counting on you. Please check it out!

Get Your LCHS Directory

In order to ensure that your student and family’s information in our directory database is accurate, please click here to log in and make any necessary changes by September 11th. You will also have the option to choose to not have your family’s information included in the directory, although a list of all student names will be included by grade.

Orders for the directory are taken on the Spartan Order Form until September 11th.

Reflections - Annual Arts Recognition Program

Explore the Arts and Express Yourself - all LCHS students are invited explore their creativity and submit original artwork for the National PTA’s annual Reflections art recognition program. This year’s theme is “I am Hopeful Because...”

Categories and Divisions: Students participate in the appropriate division for their grade: Primary (Pre-K - Grade 2), Intermediate (Grades 3-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8), High School (Grades 9-12), Special Artist (All grades welcome).

Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Film Production, Music Composition, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, Literature, Photography

Please see the Official Rules for entry. Student entries should be submitted online using the Reflections Google Form by Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

ASB Fees, Yearbooks, and Schedules!

ASB Fees and Yearbook Orders - Need to pay ASB fees and/or purchase a yearbook? You can do this online at lacanada.graystep.com. Log in or create an account using your student’s 7-digit ID number.

The ASB Fee gives students FREE admission to home football & basketball season games, discounts to ASB dances, & a FREE spirit shirt! Students will need to show the receipt before taking their picture to get ASB on their ID - or pay $5 for ID reprint. If your student did not get ASB on their ID on Registration Day, they can get a new ID on Photo Make Up Day, September 19^th. They will need to have the receipt or a copy of it on their phone.
