SUBJECT: LCHS 9-12 PTSA: All the News You Need!

President's Message

Dear Family,

October is here and it’s another busy month!  The first quarter is coming to an end already on Friday, 10/6.  There is a lot to look forward to in the next couple of weeks, including Tailgate and Homecoming.

Mark your calendar for Friday, October 13th!  The festivities begin after school at 3:30 with the Homecoming Parade making its way down Foothill Blvd.  Come out to support ASB, the LCHS football players, spirit squads, the Homecoming Court, and others!  The Tailgate event begins at 5:00, on campus between the football and baseball fields. Enjoy Habit Burger meals, Kona Ice, see friends, and welcome our Fall athletic teams, spirit squads, the marching band and choir.  Then, stay for the Homecoming Football game against Monrovia High School.  The HOCO dance will follow on Saturday night, ticket information is below.

Looking ahead this month:  Red Ribbon Week is October 23rd-27th.    Watch for details in the next couple of weeks.  And, our next PTSA Meeting is on Thursday, Oct. 19th at 8:45 am.

I hope to see you at Tailgate!  Please reach out with any questions to ptapresident@lchsptsa.org.

Have a great week!
Warm Regards,
Christine Chant, LCHS PTSA President

California Scholarship Federation Info

The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) is a statewide organization that recognizes academic excellence upon graduation at the high school level. All Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior and Senior students with good grades and citizenship are encouraged to apply each semester. To attain full membership and a CSF Gold Seal, a student needs to successfully submit an application at least 4 semesters of high school. One semester must come from senior year.  In the fall, freshmen may not apply because they need high school grades to qualify. Freshmen begin applying in January.

Beginning September 26th, turn in the application with last semester’s report card! The application is currently available on-line only. They are available at https://www.lchsspartans.net, through the student portal; click on the California Scholarship Federation icon. The applications, along with an uploaded copy of your Spring 2023 semester report card, are due no later than Friday, October 13th, by 4 P.M..

Please note** You must have a report that shows YOUR CITIZENSHIP, not just grades. If you have any U’s, you are ineligible. No student needs to complete service hours for high school CSF.

CSF applications are due no later than 4:00 P.M. October 13th.

Amazon Wish Lists for Teachers

For the 2023-2024 school year, we’re continuing the Amazon Wish List for Teachers Program.  Each of the teachers, counselors, IRC staff, Wellness Center staff, and College and Career Center counselors have been invited to create a wish list of items that they need for their classrooms to make their day-to-day job easier.  These are things that they would have to purchase on their own, so this is a great way to support them by purchasing items for them.  The Wish List links will be posted on their Google Classrooms and the LCHS PTSA website, on the Teacher Appreciation page.

When you buy items from their list, they will be shipped to the school and the teacher will be notified.  If, for any reason, you choose to buy it separately, please let the teacher know so they can remove it from their list.

If you have any questions please contact Gisela Galan at gisgalan@protonmail.com or Christine Chant at ptapresident@lchsptsa.org

Thank you for supporting our teachers and staff!
