SUBJECT: LCHS 9-12 PTSA: All the News You Need!

President's Message

Dear Family,

Thanksgiving is almost here and it’s the time of year to reflect on everything we have to be grateful for, especially with all that is going on in the world. I am truly grateful to have a wonderful family and friends and to be part of the La Canada community.  Our students are so fortunate to be surrounded by teachers, coaches, staff members, and parents who care deeply about them and are dedicated to supporting them, providing a safe place to learn and grow, and to enriching their lives.

Is there a parent volunteer, a teacher, or a staff member that you feel goes above and beyond to support our students? Please consider nominating them for a PTA Founders Day Award.  Each year, PTA celebrates the achievements and dedication of exemplary individuals who have positively impacted our students and the school.  You can find more information and a link to the Nomination Form below.

I hope that you can join us for our PTSA meeting this Thursday, November 16th at 8:45 am in the Staff Lounge.  We’ll have an LCAP presentation and updates from Mr. Cartnal.  This will be our last meeting of 2023.  If you are not able to attend in person, you’re welcome to join us on Zoom.

Next week is Thanksgiving break.  I wish everyone a very happy Thanksgiving and hope you enjoy the week with your family.

Please reach out with any questions or concerns to ptapresident@lchsptsa.org.

Warm Regards,

Christine Chant, LCHS PTSA President

Important Traffic Information!

At the last PTSA meeting, Officer Renee Wachter reminded parents about the rules for drop off and pick up at LCHS. Here are some highlights of her presentation:

After school there is NO pick-up from the red curb on Oak Grove. It is very dangerous to stop your vehicle at a green light if there are no cars in front of you and all the cars behind you are expecting you to go on green. This is a perfect way to get rear-ended. It is even more dangerous to have students entering a stopped vehicle on a green light and have the possibility of getting rear-ended while the student is entering the vehicle.

When exiting ANY driveway, please stop BEFORE the sidewalk and look both ways for pedestrian traffic before inching forward to look for vehicle traffic.

There is no pick-up or drop-off in the student parking lots. The designated pick-up and drop-off areas are in front of the school off Oak Grove and the rear of the school entering from Foothill Bl onto the access road and to the 7/8 turn-around. No pick-up or drop-off south of the 7/8 turn-around.       (click here to continue reading)

Register Your Ralphs Card Today!

We are so grateful for our community partnership with Ralphs! This is the easiest thing you can do to help our school ... so please sign up your Ralphs card today!

Step One!

Go to: https://www.ralphs.com and sign in to your account

Select "Community Contributions". If you don't see "La Cañada High School PTSA 7-12" then please change it to benefit our school and our kids!

That's it!

And for you overachievers out there (and who amongst us isn't!?), here's Step Two! Bug your neighbors, friends and relatives to sign up their Ralphs cards as well!

Not locals? No problem! Ralphs is part of the Kroger family, so your mother-in-law who lives in Arizona can shop using her Fry's card and benefit LCHS too! Your brother in Washington can shop at Fred Meyer and benefit our kids while he's at it!

Last quarter we had only 325 families registered and still made $2795.53. Just think of what we can earn if all our families register their cards! Thank you!

Amazon Wish Lists for Counselors and Teachers

Our Amazon Wish Lists program has been going well!

Thank you for supporting our teachers and staff members.  Our 9-12 counselors have also created Wish Lists and would truly appreciate any support, these items will go a long way to help make their day-to-day jobs easier. You can find their Wish List links on our website at LCHS PTSA.  Scroll down the page to Staff and Programs and you’ll find each of the counselors’ names.

When you buy items from their list, they will be shipped to the school and the teacher or counselor will be notified.  If, for any reason, you choose to buy it separately, please let them know so they can remove it from their list.

If you have any questions please contact Gisela Galan at gisgalan@protonmail.com or Christine Chant at ptapresident@lchsptsa.org

Thank you for supporting our teachers, counselors, and staff!
