LCHS Cell Phone Policy Development

11/20/2025 9:01 pm

Did you know that students with greater media multitasking behaviors demonstrate lower test scores and poorer working memory capacity? Or, that students can take up to 20 minutes to re-focus on what they were learning after being distracted? Because of this, LCHS is examining their cell phone policy to prioritize student voice, engagement, and well being after receiving a grant from Challenge Success to evaluate and improve the existing policy.

Challenge Success' Brandon Wiley and LCUSD Assistant Superintendent Jim Cartnal presented the district's work during the 2025-2026 school year to create a student-centered cell phone policy at the November PTSA meeting. Click here to see the presentation.
